We are seeking a results-oriented, entry level software engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team adding new functionality to our highly successful insurance risk placing platform. You will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of a high-performance, complex application. You will be expected to enhance your existing programming skills by learning the languages and tools we use to write clean and efficient code, leveraging modern technologies to deliver scalable software solutions. You will be passionate about software development and keen to learn new skills to drive innovation.

• Design, develop and test scalable and reliable software applications.
• Collaborate with analysts, designers, engineers and other stakeholders to define and deliver high-quality features.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure and efficient code while following best practices and coding standards.
• Read the code of your peers to learn how to review and provide constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing software systems.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in both technical and process aspects.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing new ideas to the team.
• Ensure software is designed with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, methodologies, and practices.

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrable ability to program.
• Some exposure to programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, HTML
• Some exposure to the development of Web applications.
• Some exposure to database development.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Understanding of different development methodologies e.g. Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall.
• Understanding of source control systems, preferable git.
• Understanding of software testing and debugging techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
